Summer: Mid June - late August During this time of the year, I make every effort to get my clients" outside". In the comfort and safety of my 23' Jones Brothers boat, I can easily navigate down the Kennebec River in total darkness or dense fog and, when many other boats cannot cope with the unpredictable conditions at the mouth of the river, I can regularly head out to the open ocean. This allows us to explore the beaches, coves, ledges, hidden humps and the "calendar" islands of Casco Bay. My most skillful and experienced clients enjoy these options, as the opportunity to hook an adult striper or "chopper" bluefish on a fly or soft plastic lure creates high anticipation and excitement. Don't expect a 100 fish day, but it is likely that you'll hook up with 20 - 40 fish, with a few weighing over 10 pounds. Nearly all of our 20+ lb. stripers are landed during the summer months.
