Fishing Calendar

Early October - early November

Although it is still possible to tangle with pods of busting stripers, my focus now shifts, once again, to smallmouth and largemouth bass. As the water temperature drops into the 50s, the bass go on their final binge before the winter freeze. With a background of brilliant red and yellow foliage and snow capped mountains, some of the largest bass of the year are landed. Large streamers presented with intermediate fly lines and suspending jerkbaits account for most of these "hawgs" and "mules". I have personally taken two largemouth over 9 lbs. during October. If the weatherman gives us a couple of seasonably warm days in a row, call me. I'll be ready.
