Fishing Calendar

Early Spring - Mid April to early May:

As soon as the ice goes out, I begin my annual search for smallmouth and largemouth bass. When the water temperature elevates to 52 degrees, the best fishing of the year takes place. Slowly bouncing tiny jigs along the bottom or fly casting crawfish patterns with sink tip lines will produce trophy size bass. Even with snow still on the ground, we take many 3 - 5 lb. smallmouth and a few largemouth in the 7 - 9 lb. category. Since this fishing takes place well before the spawn, don't expect to catch 50 fish per day. But if you would like to connect with the biggest bass of your life, give it a try. On May 2, 2001, Kurt Harling caught only two bass with me, but the weight of the pair was a remarkable 17.2 lbs!
